EV Charging At Home or the Workplace: The Wall Mounted EV Charger

As part of Garo's Electric Vehicle Charging series, this piece focuses on the most common option for charging at home or the workplace - the Wall Mounted Charger. With Garo's GLB Charger, a hybrid EV can be fully charged in around 3 hours, and a pure electric EV in around 6 hours.

The Commission of Regulation of Water and Energy (CRU) and Dublin Local Authority are examples of high profile organisations to have chosen this type of Charger for their installations from Garo.

In the UK, grants are available towards the purchase of Electric Vehicle Chargers through OLEV (Office for Low Emission Vehicles). All Garo Electric EV Chargers are approved for purchase through the scheme.

In the Republic of Ireland, grants are available towards the purchase of Home Chargers through the SEAI.

COMPACT, SAFE, SMART - KEY BENEFITS OF WALL MOUNTED CHARGERS
Garo Wall Chargers are compact, easy to install, user friendly and above all safe. With a 3 year warranty and a range of versions available including RFID functionality, WiFi and Dynamic Load Balancing, they give the user complete control of the charger and who can charge.

An input for low tariff or night rate charging allows the user to plug their car in at any time, but charging will only take place at times that are specified by the user, such as low tariff / night rates.

The choice is yours - basic, a standard model that gives Dynamic Load Balancing capability or premium that offers RFID, Cloud Billing, DC Leakage Control etc. Type 1 or type 2 fixed cable or type 2 socket outlet. 3.7-22kW either with protection is mounted in the distribution cabinet or a version where an integrated RCCB type B protects.

A unique Dynamic Load Balancing function ensures that the installation's main incoming protective fuse is safeguarded by the EV charging station. As the power demands of your electricity installation alter, the charger will respond accordingly, telling the EV to reduce or stop charging when power usage is high in your installation, and to increase when your overall electricity has reduced.

You can monitor and start charging your car from the comfort of your home. If you have the need for multi-point charging, choose a cluster, which will be soon available with 3G connection. These clusters (max 32 chargers) can be Load-Balanced locally without a connection to a cloud service and with the upcoming 3G functions via OCPP 1.6 through a back office.

The motorised interlock prevents the vehicle owner's lead being manually disconnected from a locked in position by another user. In the event of a power cut, the inbuilt power reserve will also remove the interlock, allowing the user to disconnect and drive.
