As reported in the Wall Street Journal, Apple has decided to 'commit' to the develop of a branded Electric Vehicle following an extensive feasibility period. Codenamed Titan, the project's manpower has been increased to 1800 from 600. This includes multiple car industry experts & driverless car specialists. It is not thought that the first wave of vehicles will be driverless, but they are expected to feature down the track.
It is an entirely new industry for Apple, however the synergies with batteries, sensors and design make for a very exciting new entry. Touted for 2019, we won't have too long to wait & see if they transform the market in the same way they did for mobile phones.
